Join us for a discussion of Contemporary Issues in Iceland with Jonathan Wood.


Jonathan Wood imageWhat draws an attorney from Georgia to Akureyri, Iceland?  Join us on Sunday, March 21, 2021 in a conversation with Jonathan Wood, Polar Law student at the University of Akureyri.  He will talk about what brought him to Iceland, the Polar Law program, his work with the Arctic indigenous communities and the challenges they are facing, and much more.  Jeannie Fox Entenza will lead the discussion.

Jonathan Wood is currently a Masters in Law candidate in Polar Law at the University of Akureyri and a research fellow at the Stefansson Arctic Institute in Akureyri, Iceland, focusing on resource extraction and sustainable development in southern Greenland. Wood is an attorney who continues to practice remotely for the law firm Whitehurst Blackburn & Warren in his hometown of Thomasville, GA, where he primarily focuses on constitutional law issues.

 

Jeannie Fox Entenza imageJeannie Fox Entenza is a descendant of northeastern Icelanders who has been fortunate to visit Iceland numerous times. She is a former Snorri Plus participant and is currently doing research with two faculty members at the University of Iceland for her doctoral dissertation at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota. Jeannie also teaches nonprofit public policy and public administration courses at Hamline and makes her home in St. Paul with her husband, Matthew, and Bernese Mountain dog, Magnus.
