Gathering the Icelandic horse herd before winter sets in…

Photographer Nancy Johnson and artist Gail Murton share their photos and adventures photographing the 2024 Réttir in Skagafjörður in Northern Iceland.

The area around Skagafjörður is horse country and the annual horse round-up draws people from around the world. Photographer Nancy Johnson and friend, artist Gail Murton, traveled to Iceland in September 2024 to partake in the event. They will tell us what they learned and share stunning photos and videos of their adventure.

Nancy Johnson is a professional photographer living in Roseville, Minnesota. Her love of travel has taken her around the world and more than once to Iceland for various photo projects. Now retired, she loves to photograph the outdoors and anything that moves.

Gail Murton lives in Finland, Minnesota and is an accomplished photographer and artist. Lake Superior and Minnesota’s North Shore are her backyard. Her photographs have appeared in numerous shows and publications.

Together they have photographed in Iceland, Nova Scotia, Canada, and the mid-western US. Bird photography has been a particular passion for both.
