Course Syllabus

PREREQUISITE:   Students in this class should have either completed the Basic-Level 1 class or have had exposure to (not mastery of) the concepts outlined for Level 1.

This class provides a bridge between the Basic 1.0 and Basic 2.0 classes.  It's designed for those who have taken Basic 1.0 class who feel they want a review of the concepts from the Basic 1.0 class and a slower-paced learning of new concepts.  Beginning with an in-depth review of Basic 1, we'll slowly build on that foundation by introducing and practicing new grammar concepts and vocabulary.   This class will put more emphasis on speaking, in a safe and fun atmosphere.

Class size is limited to ten so there is sufficient time for all to speak. Students will be encouraged to use their knowledge to ask and answer questions aloud during class time, using what they are learning, often with visual prompts and support.  Birna Sigurbjörnsdóttir will facilitate the learning.

Mar 19 - Apr 23, 2024 (Tuesdays - 7pm Central)

PREREQUISITE:   Students in this class should have either completed the Basic-Level 1 class or have had exposure to (not mastery of) the concepts outlined for Level 1.

The first session of this class will review the key concepts presented in Basic 1.   Students will be challenged to put their knowledge in action by speaking each class, putting into practice lessons of that day.   The class will also introduce how verbs cause both direct and indirect objects of a sentence to bend (decline), introducing some new irregular verbs, introduction to prepositions, adjectives, and general conversational.  Class size is limited to ten learners so there is sufficient time for all to speak and use new learning goals.  Birna Sigurbjörnsdóttir will facilitate the learning.

The first two classes will provide a consolidated review of the core concepts covered in the Basic 2.0 class.   Subsequent classes will be individually crafted each week to focus on concepts where the class needs extra work and areas where the class is ready to go for new information.   Generally, the new classes will focus on building strength in additional verb classes (present and past tenses), irregular verbs, adjectives, prepositions and adverbs.
