New Winter 2024 Connect Newsletter
Gleðileg jól, Merry Christmas!
The latest edition of the Connect is now available on the INLUS.org website. (Newsletters Page Link HERE)
The Winter Connect is loaded with holiday treats and details of holiday events happening in Icelandic clubs across the country.
In the first week of December, three Icelandic clubs offer holiday gatherings. If you are in Utah, North Dakota, or Minnesota, check out the listings in our event calendar on page 8. Many more events fill the calendar with the club’s Þorrablót celebrations rounding out the winter festivities.
Many INLUS members live too far away to participate in a local club, but this year a group of friends created their own local club in Colorado. 99 years ago a group of friends created a club in Minneota, Minnesota. Read the article about the Icelandic Hekla club. We’ll be hearing more from the club and their plans to celebrate their 100th anniversary in 2025.
We also revisit Iceland of last summer and fall with two tales from Snorri and Snorri Plus participants. If you are dreaming about having a Snorri journey next year, read our article about the January application deadlines. You can apply online. Look for all the details in the newsletter.
And if you have a New Year’s resolution to learn to speak Icelandic in 2025, check out the January starts on all of the INLUS six-week language classes. The classes are very popular and they fill up fast. Follow the signup links in the article.
All the volunteers at INLUS wish you a very happy holiday season and a prosperous new year!
