Upcoming INLUS Webinar – Lögberg-Heimskringla
Join us for another interesting Webinar presentation on Tuesday, February 8th. |
Lögberg-Heimskringla – A Mirror of Icelandic Life in North America |
“We like to think of Lögberg-Heimskringla as the ‘newspaper of record’ for the Icelandic community in North America,” says its editor Stefan Jonasson. “One of the oldest ethnic newspapers on the continent, it has served the Icelandic communities across North America for 145 years. Notwithstanding the double-barreled Icelandic name, the paper has appeared in the English language for decades. It offers a North American perspective on all things Icelandic, conveying the most important news from Iceland while reporting on Icelandic events, clubs, and individuals here in Canada and the United States.”
Stefan will speak about the rich history of the newspaper and its predecessor publications, its online presence, and the twin challenges of continuity and change. Along the way, he will share interesting anecdotes and describe how Lögberg-Heimskringla’s mission and activities have changed through the years.
