An important mission area of INLUS is to help connect our members with Icelandic culture. One way we do that is to help increase awareness of Icelandic film and TV productions.

A couple of Icelandic films have recently become available for viewing in the U.S. The Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) was scheduled for May 14 – June 7 in Seattle. Unfortunately, the live showings were cancelled for health reasons, but SIFF has created a Virtual event where anyone can view the films via the internet. There is a small fee for viewing.

One of the featured films this year is A White, White Day by filmmaker Hlynur Palmason. (2019, Icelandic with English subtitles)

This film is available to watch now. More information is available from the Virtual SIFF Website.

Another of Hlynur’s films, Winter Brothers (2017) is also available online via Grand Illusion Theater. This film is available now but has a limited screening availability of April 17 – 23, 2020.
