Living and Working in the Westfjords-INLUS Webinar
What is it like to live and work in the Westfjords of Iceland in winter?

Dr. Aaron Kennedy in the Westfjords
During 2024-2025, Dr. Aaron Kennedy served as a Fulbright Scholar in Iceland under the National Science Foundation Arctic Research Grant. Working with the Icelandic Meteorological Office, he lived in the remote Westfjords region of Iceland and deployed weather instrumentation to investigate conditions leading up to avalanches.
Not only was the work exhilarating, but the region’s landscapes were amazing, and the people were warm and welcoming.
Dr. Aaron Kennedy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of North Dakota.
His research focuses on observing and understanding hazardous weather events such as blizzards and severe storms.
This talk will present a photographic journey of the amazing experience.
