Meet Iceland’s Ambassador to the US-INLUS Webinar
In August 2024, Svanhildur Hólm Valsdóttir became the seventeenth Ambassador of Iceland to the United States.

Svanhildur Hólm Valsdóttir, Iceland’s Ambassador to the United States
She has an extensive background as a senior political advisor to the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs and to the Prime Minister, as well as serving as Secretary General of the Independence Party’s parliamentary group. Svanhildur also has a notable background in media, as a journalist, program editor, and radio and television host.
Prior to her appointment as Ambassador, Svanhildur served as Secretary General of the Iceland Chamber of Commerce and as a board member of Reykjavík University, its subsidiaries, and the Reykjavík City Theatre.
Svanhildur holds a law degree (Cand. Jur.) from the University of Iceland and an MBA from Reykjavík University.
