There are moments in Iceland that don’t feel real until you look back at them.

A sudden shift in weather that changes the entire landscape.

Light breaking through at exactly the right second.

A quiet scene that somehow feels enormous.

You don’t plan for those moments. You just happen to be there, and if you’re lucky, you capture them.

After an incredible response to our first photo contest, we’re bringing it back for 2026 with a new theme.

Wild Iceland Moments

This year, we’re looking for photos that capture Iceland at its most dynamic, unpredictable, and unforgettable: the moments that caught you off guard, made you stop, or stayed with you long after.

In our first photo contest last year, you showed us what Iceland looks like through your eyes. The images were thoughtful, striking, and deeply personal. This year, we’re building on that momentum and looking for the stories behind the snapshots.

You’ll start seeing highlights from our 2025 winners across our Facebook and Instagram channels. Consider them inspiration, a challenge, and a reminder: you might already have the perfect shot.

What counts as “wild” is up to you.

It might be a dramatic landscape or a fleeting, almost-missed moment. It might be movement, contrast, weather, or something quieter that simply felt powerful at the time. If it made you pause, there’s a good chance it belongs here.

How to Enter

Participating is simple:

• Post your photo on Instagram or Facebook
• Tag @INLUSorg
• Use #WildIcelandINLUS
• Add a short caption (2–3 sentences) sharing the story behind the image

Important: Please also include your name (and social media handle, if you wish) as you would like it to appear when we credit you for the photo.

A note on privacy settings: When you post your image to Facebook, you’ll need to make sure the post sharing is public so we can find it. On Instagram, your account will need to be set to public.

What Happens Next?

Once submissions close, our team will select 10 finalists based on creativity, quality, and alignment with the theme. These finalists will then be showcased on our social media channels for voting.

Followers can vote by “liking” their favorite images, and contestants are welcome (and encouraged!) to share the image to drive more votes. 

Voting Period: Voting will be open for one week: July 27 – August 3

The photo with the most likes across both platforms will be our winner. We’ll also announce a runner up and a third-place contestant.

This isn’t just about winning; it’s about sharing your perspective of one of our favorite places on earth.

Winning photos will be featured across INLUS, and selected submissions may be used in future content (with credit to the photographer). More importantly, you’ll be part of a growing collection of moments that show Iceland in all its depth and unpredictability. We can’t wait to see what you’ve captured.
